Tropical English was founded by Paul Carmichael, a certified ESL specialist bringing over 18 years of international teaching and management experience to your learning journey. Having spent 14 years living in Japan—where he maintains active, daily fluency at home—Paul brings a profound, empathetic understanding of the specific cultural and linguistic nuances faced by international students, particularly those from East Asia.
At Tropical English, the traditional, high-pressure classroom is replaced with a supportive "safe space" where language anxiety gives way to quiet confidence.
